Could you please explain more about these points? Like do all PAL unit require this step? Also finding these points on the board itself has proven difficult.

The problem for pal occurs only on the SCPH-102. In the code there is the wiring mode, and it is not 100% clear, look at the wiki there is a more clot numbering.
