What's the purpose of -1 suffix in release tags? I suggest to remove it, as it doesn't seem to be part of the version (as it is mentioned on the site and in configure.ac, for example) and doesn't seem to be anything other than -1 at all. It confuses packagers, some of which seem to use it as part of the package version, and this in turn produces some mess, as e.g. minimodem-0.22-1 and minimodem-0.22.1-1 may both be packaged as 0.22.1 in different repos.
