Push upstream? #14

Has there been any sort of effort to merge this patch into the base game? Curious if it seems like that will ever happen :)

kaomoneus commented 9 months ago

Hi @benjamin-kirkbride sorry for late response. I was concentrated on merging it with latest version, and didn't notice this issue. I never asked mainstream owners to do so. I would be glad if one day we will push it, but I think first it should be tested. Also at this moment I only have time to sync it with master couple of times a year, and have no resources to develop new features. Anyways, we should test it and attract more people, this is how we could get some developers as well, and honestly I don't know how to do that :-/

Maybe try making a JGR version? I'd love to play that, and would be willing to report any bugs as best I can.

kaomoneus commented 7 months ago

That would be nice, the testing problem remains though.

H-Sachse commented 6 months ago

I'd like to see this in JGR's patch pack too. It would also be a good test bed, because the number of users playing JGR's patch pack should be significant. Getting it into upstream should be much easier if it has been in JGR's patch pack before.

@H-Sachse , that might be a plan, thank you!

robartsd commented 2 months ago

I'd like to try this in JGR's patch pack too.

kaomoneus commented 1 month ago

@H-Sachse , @robartsd Why you are not satisfied with JGR's daylength?

I have not yet actually tried this patch; however, I like the idea of slowing the economy without slowing the cargo production or changing the economic payback period of a system. The main thing that I think I'd like to change about this patch is the displayed monetary values (I'd keep the stored/computed values the same as this patch does, but adjust for the economy speed factor when displaying). I'm also not sure how this handles edge cases (like subsidy duration).
