Conflict with joe (text editor) #30

Need to come up with a new command name. Possibilities:

[ ] gitignore - no conflicts on homebrew [ ] ignore - less preferred [ ] gi - no conflicts on homebrew and apt. Also works like gi-joe. :dancer:

karan commented 9 years ago

Will name it gi in next update then!

hron84 commented 9 years ago

Also, provide an alias git-ignore, it should be fun

joelpurra commented 9 years ago

@hron84: might conflict with git ignore, aka git-ignore in git extras. https://github.com/tj/git-extras/wiki/Commands

hron84 commented 9 years ago

@joelpurra ohh, i did not know git-extras, my bad.

karan commented 9 years ago

What do you guys think of this change? I think just changing the command is enough.

Shouldn't one use such extremely short names like "gi" only for the most basic/common/important tools?

joe is a great tool, but I don't feel it qualifies for such a short name, which may be used by people for their aliases e.g.

Why not simply making a true git command out of it? E.g. something like git print-gitingores ?!

mtelesha commented 9 years ago

gitignore.io already uses gi

+1 for gi-joe

Not too short, not too long, no interference, sassy, works great. Making it a git extension would be cool too. git joe <whatever>
