this pull request incorporates several drastic changes.

Changes the mechanism for searching the backend sqlite database to a much simpler SQLalchemy interface. This was an excellent contribution by @shepherdjay !
Begin transition to card-style layout for result pages. this paves the way for a future multiple result search.
