Cannot view images for tracks, linux browsers #187

Using up to date Debian (Kali) Linux on older 64 bit laptop Used both openstreetcam.org and beta.openstreetcam.org Sometimes a single image appears in nearby tracks preview, sometimes not. After sequence is loaded, summary and track route map viewer appear at left of screen, and the image viewer controls appear to the right of screen, but image panel is blank.

Browsers used: qutebrowser Version: 1.5.2-1 firefox-esr Version: 60.3.0esr-1 tor browser Version 8.0.3 (based on Mozilla Firefox 60.3.0esr) (64-bit)

A "safety" or block is suspected. Attempts were made to allow all javascript sources, and firefox was used in "safe mode" but no joy.

Linux browsers run just fine. image

You probably have something in your distro that is domain blocking/script blocking (Kali linux is more for penetration testing, not everyday use)

Additional info: youtube works, openstreetmap.org works, lots of sites work (in everyday use).

I have not had any issues while using Firefox 63.0.3 on Ubuntu 18.10. It must be something specific with your setup.

osc-web-errors.txt

Based on errors seen in the attached, I'm suspecting problem with old hardware graphics/video driver and WebGL "blacklist." The site also has a mix of https and http (mixed active content), but that's probably minor here.

JOSM on the same laptop displays images okay, but switching to that will slow down my OSM editing, not improve it.

When mousing over the download button on bottom right, do you also see "unsafe:javascript:void(0);" displayed at lower left? (Just curious)

james2432 commented 5 years ago

if you are using kali linux, firefox must be setup to block mixed content by default: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mixed-content-blocking-firefox

The following browser IS working for me, and the download button now shows something like: http://openstreetcam.org/storage9/files/photo/year/mo/day/proc/image-id-number.jpg

The differences between this browser and firefox should tell site developers something about the cause of the failure with other browsers.
