This may comprise several RDBMS or NoSQL systems and shall be secure and incorporate regular automated backup to SANSA backup storage. The schema(s) used shall be compliant with the search functionality offered in the Web Portal Search Interface. Metadata may include thumbnail imagery.

Justification or rationale: A database is required to capture, persist and if needed, modify the core metadata and reliably retrieve the subsets of metadata given filters of interest efficiently. Verification requirements: Queries made to the database shall return the expected records.
