Problem

Going between various tabs we have the side panel appearing and disappearing which causes both bugs as well as confuses the user.

The side panel should always be visible. The minimize arrow should be removed. All events removing and showing the side-panel should be removed.

We need to still make sure the side panel is open even on load.
