Frotz is an interpreter for Infocom games and other Z-machine games 
("Interactive Fiction").

The Frotz app is now functional, although I would still like to know why more 
recent IF titles that work in dfrotz running on other computers don't run on 
the reader.  But for now, I consider the issue closed.
