Interesting, that hadn't even occurred to me!
Any thoughts or recommendations?
My initial instinct is to translate it somewhat directly/literally for now, and revisit this if we find ways to improve. Looking at masstimes.org now, it seems like it actually does support most of the world (or at least major cities), but is only available in English. For example, Argentina mass times. They claim, "The purpose of the MassTimes ministry is to help Catholics get to Mass by helping them find churches and worship times worldwide."
It seems to me that linking to masstimes.org is better than nothing, even if that site isn't available in languages other than English...
Notably, masstimes.org is only referenced once, in the about.where_to_find
translation key. If there's a better local resource we can offer for finding confession times, I'm open to the idea of replacing that section on a per-language basis (though figuring out different links with our translation framework might get tricky.
It's a little bit difficult to translate a phrase that contains information specific to a geographical area. For example, the link to the website
masstimes.org
is specific to the United States. Translating the string into Spanish isn't so easy, because though there are many hispanics in the United States who could very well consult themasstimes.org
website, there could very well be spanish speakers from Latin America, South America, Spain, and any other spanish speaking country that access the ConfessIt website, and so there isn't a single website for Mass times that can be put in the place ofmasstimes.org
for any Spanish speaker.
