I am sorry, but cannot help you in this issue.
You could try using the debug version and study the kernel log.
Why not? If I post kernel logs with the debug version, will you bug hunt then?
I have only an older mac, which does not have CoreStorage and I don't find any CoreStorage related code. I could try finding the problem from the kernel logs, if you posted them.
Is this still an issue? CoreStorage is an integral part of all Macs that have FileVault 2. The manpage to diskutil has some info, but some commands are undocumented and covered here: http://blog.fosketts.net/2011/08/05/undocumented-corestorage-commands/
I guess it is still an issue.
(I'll buy a new mac mini, when they release a new one and if it still uses an Intel CPU)
Do you need a new Mac Mini? All machines with 10.8 can also run 10.9, and Core Storage was introduced in 10.7, so unless you're stuck on 10.6 (with a Core Duo machine) you should be able to test this.
How are your encrypted drives connected?
Firewire via Thunderbolt?
I am not able to reproduce this issue with the latest version of the OSX SAT SMART extension on the latest version of OSX. I have not tested this since May/June 2013, but i just tried reinstalling and it works. If this issue still affects anyone, please reopen the issue.
With v0.6, I am not able to boot when drives are plugged in that have CoreStorage encryption. I have not tested with unencrypted CoreStorage drives for comparison. It may or may not be related to the previously reported bug on FileVault 2 (link), but the behavior I am seeing is different. With this driver installed, my system hangs at boot time indefinitely when CoreStorage encrypted drives are plugged in. Without this software installed, I do not see an issue.
