Going back to manager widget fixes the issue, so doing that since couldn't find a better solution. Problem was seen on Linux with OpenJDK 10 as well as Mac with Open JDK 11: Open controls_textentry.bob, and initially the multi-line text entry might be OK, but close/reload, and activating the widget by any mean (tab, click) will activate it without showing a cursor/caret, without being able to select via Shift-cursor or mouse.
