Further information

While there is a complaint about removing the container data, podman ps -a shows nothing left behind, and the sandbox directory is gone.

@c3d,

dahmer fidencio # kata-runtime --version
kata-runtime  : 1.12.0
   commit   : <<unknown>>
   OCI specs: 1.0.1-dev
dahmer fidencio # rpm -qa | grep kata-runtime
kata-runtime-1.12.0-2.fc33.x86_64
dahmer fidencio # podman run -it --rm --runtime /usr/bin/kata-runtime fedora bash
[root@fe59e1fefaed /]# exit
exit
dahmer fidencio #

I would like to ask, are you using cgroupsv1? Mind to give it a try also with latest packages from Fedora?

fidencio commented 3 years ago

Hmm. I kinda remember something similar, solved by @egernst cgroups patches some months ago.

c3d commented 3 years ago

Same version as you, also on kata-runtime-1.12.0-2.fc33.x86_64. It's interesting that you don't see it. Other relevant versions:

qemu-5.2.0-0.7.rc2.fc33.x86_64
podman-2.1.1-12.fc33.x86_64

Running with cgroups v2. Maybe something else installed on the system?

@c3d please recheck.

This issue is being automatically closed as Kata Containers 1.x has now reached EOL (End of Life). This means it is no longer being maintained.

Important:

All users should switch to the latest Kata Containers 2.x release to ensure they are using a maintained release that contains the latest security fixes, performance improvements and new features.

This decision was discussed by the @kata-containers/architecture-committee and has been announced via the Kata Containers mailing list:

If you believe this issue still applies to Kata Containers 2.x, please open an issue against the Kata Containers 2.x repository, pointing to this one, providing details to allow us to migrate it.
