Add favorites button #44

Right now it takes a bunch of touches to start a stream.

It'd be good if there was a way to save favorites, especially for streaming
stations.

This should be an enhancement, not a defect

lousbrews,

I'm going to merge this issue into a similar item, as I believe the coding
changes needed are effectively the same.

Also, take a look at the proposed mocks for the 2.0 version via the downloads
tab. Hopefully you will like the favorites option we've added to the design.

Thanks,

Thanks for your consideration.

I'd suggest adding the stream to favorites rather than the station (or at least
add stream as option), as it will be less touches.

Also if you touch the favorite stream, it would be expected that the stream
would begin playing immediately, without having to touch the play button.

When I get some free time, I wouldn't mind helping with the development, but I
don't see my time freeing up for a while, unfortunately.

We'd be happy to have you!

As for the favorites section, stations are rather touchy about this issue. I
agree from a pure UX perspective, the less touches usually the better. But
here at NPR, one of the primary objectives of our mobile platforms is to help
serve stations. My understanding is they prefer to have the station itself
saved rather than the stream.

Thanks again for the contribution.

"here at NPR, one of the primary objectives of our mobile platforms is to help
serve stations."

If you made your app serve listeners and not serve stations, it wouldn't suck
so hard.
