What if my Bluesky Username is Different from Twitter (or I use Website?) #64

Maybe I'm missing something, but I would like my followers to be able to find me using this.... but how do I communicate what my new Bluesky account is? Does this only work if my Bluesky is exactly TWITTERNAME.bsky.social? What if my Twitter name has already been taken? What if I want to use a custom domain?

@Neurotyping

Thank you for your question. If your Bluesky handle is different from your Twitter handle, you can either set your Twitter display name to be the same as your Bluesky display name or include your Twitter account in your Bluesky description so that it can be found through the sky follower bridge.

When I tried to place my handle in my Bluesky description, the extension did not find me.

If your Twitter handle starts with an underscore, the extension seems to exclude it when searching in the Bluesky API. And when the extension gets the user back, it expects the first underscore to be there, or the user is not displayed.

So if I am @_nyakase_ on Twitter then I need to write @nyakase and @_nyakase\ in my Bluesky description to be recognized.

When I go to set my BlueSky handle, it won't even let me use my underscore from Twitter at all, so I used a dash instead. It would be nice if the matcher also tried substituting a dash.
