Fixes broken UI interactions #9

This pr fixes the somewhat broken UI interactions in the shopping list and has some other small enhancements.

Fixes:

No event emitted when adding item
Adding items from the shopping list UI interface not working
Updating items from the shipping list UI interface not working

Enhancements:

Adds service for clearing (deleting) individual items
Other minor code cleanups
