SHW in the CBECC user guide #772

This isn’t an IES issue as such but something I would like to clarify. I
would have thought that SHW would typically mean service hot water but your
user guide states it refers to solar hot water. I can’t find anywhere to
input typical solar hot water parameters in the CBECC program so is it a
mistake? A customer was asking as he says the baseline has a requirementfor 20%
to be sourced from solar.

You are correct regarding the user’s manual, this should say service hot
water. We will correct this in the v3 manual.

The current version of CBECC-Com, and this will remain the case for v3, has no
inputs for solar systems. It has recently been pointed out to us that the
standards contain a prescriptive requirement for multifamily residential
buildings to include a solar system which provides a 0.20 solar fraction. We
are currently discussing how to address this requirement.

Solar thermal data has been incorporated in v3a and later, with extensive
additions for reporting in v3b.
