1)Regarding the space types that qualify for Sys 9 and 10-
The user’s guide specifies that if a ‘other qualifying spaces’ exist in a
building, they’re modeled as heated and cooled. i.e. if a space type
doesn’t fall in the list ‘storage, stairwells, vestibules,
electrical/mechanical rooms, restrooms’, then despite being heated only- it
would be modeled as heated and cooled.
2)Transfer air was decided to be moved to Phase II (as a part of the
laboratory, kitchen exhaust effort)
Option 1-
Add a check box in the UI (for heated only spaces meeting the space type
criteria listed above) to identify spaces served by transfer air- and also ask
the space it received transfer air from for Phase II
If this can be done, then we can use all 3- i.e. heating source, space function
and whether served by transfer air.
Option 2-
If this cannot be done, then we can document this as a task for Phase II and
base the decision only on heating source and space function.
3)We've elaborated on laboratory and kitchen exhaust in a separate section.
That explanation is quite detailed-3.6.5.3 - Zone Exhaust for Kitchen and
Laboratories. Is this not what you're referring to?

1/2)
Currently CBECC only looks at the SpaceFunction and that the proposed system
serving the ThermalZone is heating-only, so that is what I will work with in
the near-term.
The transfer air checks/space network you describe is an interesting idea, but
this is a new feature and could be complex since transfer air can come from
multiple spaces. That said, I agree it would be best to support flow
networks/transfer air more explicitly in the program.
So, just to summarize, for phase 1, systems 9/10 will only be applicable to
zones made up of the the following SpaceFunctions that have heating-only
systems:
Storage
Stairway
Electrical/Mechanical
Restrooms
Corridor/Transition
Please let me know if I am mistaken.
3)
I only was going by what was described in 3.1.2, and did not look to
cross-reference with other sections; thanks for pointing me to them. I'll
review when the time comes.

Rules have been updated to only allow the space functions listed in comment #2
to be eligible for systems 9/10. Closing issue.
