CBECC-Com Issue - Building Envelope #833

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

I have a problem when running the simulation. After a few second running, it
always shows a window saying “errors encountered simulating proposed model
(sim returned 131: Error encountered in OpenStudio loading SDD XML file)”.
Actually I used CBECC-com rather than skechup/open studio to create the
geometry. I have the model attached. Really appreciate if you could help me
take a look at it.

There are couple of issues with your model.

First is that you are using a zone system of type FPFC, but not including the
fan to try to model radiant systems. This does not work, FPFC systems require
a fan. CBECC-Com does not currently support radiant systems. You can try the
“Exceptional Design” compliance method,
http://bees.archenergy.com/faq_software.html#excep, which allows use of
EnergyPlus capabilities not supported by CBECC-Com such as radiant cooling.
Alternatively, you can include a fan with your FPFC systems, but then set the
static pressure to the minimum (0.00001 in. w.g.) to minimize fan power.

Second, you have multiple pumps assigned to your boiler and chiller. This also
does not work. CBECC-Com does not support multiple pumps in parallel.

Finally, you have labeled two of the chilled water pumps as “Secondary.”
If you are intending to model a primary-secondary chilled water system, you
need to add additional fluid segments to your CHW system, the secondary supply
and secondary return. These segments must reference the corresponding primary
supply and return segments. Then your cooling coils which are attached to the
secondary loop must reference the secondary supply and return fluid segments.
Finally, the secondary loop must have a pump attached to the supply or return
fluid segment.

I have attached a model which simulates successfully. I have added fans to the
FPFC systems and removed the excess pumps. I did not add the secondary CHW
loop.
