CBECC-Com Issue - HVAC #858

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Version = 2013_3_653

Category = HVAC

Issue Summary:

I need help understanding an error message. I don’t know what coil bypass
factors are. I don’t know how to revise the HVAC to accommodate the sizing
inaccuracy.

EnergyPlus Fatal Error(s) (1):

2014-Nov-19 16:00:58 -        1: Coil:Cooling:DX:TwoSpeed "COILCOOLING 28"
Errors found in calculating coil bypass factors

2014-Nov-19 16:00:58 -     EnergyPlus Severe Error(s) (2):

2014-Nov-19 16:00:58 -        1: Sizing: Coil:Cooling:DX:TwoSpeed "COILCOOLING
28": Rated air volume flow rate per watt of rated total cooling capacity is out
of range.

Min Rated Vol Flow Per Watt=[4.027E-005], Rated Vol Flow Per Watt=[9.646E-006],
Max Rated Vol Flow Per Watt=[6.041E-005]. See Input Output Reference Manual for
valid range.

List the steps taken to produce the error. For example:

1.      Open the file

2.      Run the analysis

3.      Review the log file

I suspect the second error message is the real issue here. EnergyPlus only
allows airflow per ton of cooling capacity of around 400 cfm/ton, with actual
limits that I think are about 350 cfm/ton on the low end and 450 or 500 cfm/ton
on the upper end. Check the airflow and cooling capacity of CoilCooling 28 and
make sure that the ratio is in that range.
