Issue Summary:
I’m trying to model a building with single zone VAV units (8 per floor).
I’m using the uncontrolled boxes as mentioned in the FAQ. Somehow my baseline
model uses less heating energy than my proposed model. I ran the .idf file in
energyplus to generate hourly reports. In the attached csv file if you look at
columns H and I, the zone ZN F-40_Z1 temperature seems to overshoot above the
heating setpoint. The system seems to kind of work but the control doesn’t
seem to be accurate. I changed the systems to be with VAV reheat boxes and kept
the heating coils only at the boxes, with an aggressive SAT reset at the system
level to avoid any “reheat”. In that case my proposed model heating energy
went down and looking at the hourly report the zone temperatures are better
controlled to setpoint. Am I missing something in my model with uncontrolled
boxes or should I be using the VAVRH boxes?
