CBECC-Com Issue - HVAC #936

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Version = 2013_3a_687

Category = HVAC

Issue Summary:
Hi,

I’m trying to model a highrise residential building with a DOAS and FPFC
system.

I modeled my system the same way as in the example file RetlSml-DOAS+FPFC. With
the DOAS as a SZAC with uncontrolled boxes serving the zones. Each zone also
has a zone system with a FPFC.

I get the error message saying that I cannot have a ventilation system for my
zones which are entered as “high-rise residential living spaces”.

Is the only way to model the DOAS with infiltration for high-rise residential
spaces?

Because of some issues with the way the baseline HVAC system handled
ventilation, CBECC-Com is currently using a work-around to model ventilation in
high-rise residential buildings. Ventilation is automatically included in a
way that provides the heating and cooling loads directly in the space but does
not address any fan energy. If the user specifies ventilation in the proposed
model, they will actually be getting double ventilation, so the error message
you received was added to prevent users from inadvertently penalizing their
proposed model.

I recommend that you remove your DOAS system from the model. If you are
questioned by the code authorities, provide them with this email.

This issue is planned to be addressed in future versions of CBECC-Com, but the
exact schedule for inclusion of a fix has not yet been determined.
