What NACM Section(s) are relevant to this issue?
5.4.4 Interior Lighting, Regulated Interior Lighting Power, Standard Design
Existing Buildings
5.4.4 Interior Lighting, General Lighting Power, Standard Design Existing
Buildings
Explanation of issue:
ACM Language for 'Standard Design Existing Buildings' States:
For alterations where less than 40 luminaires have been modified, the baseline
is the existing lighting condition before the alteration. If 40 or more
luminaires have been modified, the general lighting power for the baseline is
defined for each space type in Appendix 5.4B.
This approach is difficult because the data model not track information on how
many luminaires have been modified. In addition, this language comes from the
standards table 141.0-F, which applies only to the special category of
'Luminaire Modifications in Place'. This special category will likely not
apply in most Altered Lighting scenarios utilizing the performance path.
Proposed resolution:
Utilize the same approach as for determining requirements for daylighting
controls in Altered lighting situations (see issue 854):
- When lighting status is 'Existing' - Standard Design LPD same as Proposed
Design
- When lighting status in 'New' - Standard Design LPD same as for New
Construction
- When lighting status is 'Altered'
-IF installed LPD<=85% of standard design LPD: Standard Design LPD same as
Proposed Design
-IF installed LPD > 85% of standard design LPD: Standard Design LPD same as
New Const.
