Reworking new file diff panel #324

This resolves issue #263

The diff panel for a new file now shows line numbers and shows empty lines of code (as shown below). image

To test this:

  1. Start the application
  2. Open a repository
  3. Add a new file and add a few lines of empty space and text
  4. Observe the diff panel to see if there are line numbers there
