OpenAL Soft doesn't affect apps that don't use OpenAL.
How did you install OpenAL Soft? What version? What's your hardware? OS? Can you be more specific about what you mean by "reverbish effect" (or get a recording of what it sounds like)?
openalerror.zip mp3 in the zip
video in question https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ABKb5oVy38
openal-soft1.20.1-bin OS Build 18362.535 Windows 10 pro, hardware? I
I used a progam called virtual cable so if it sound washed up it's not because I captured the audio via microphone
I don't hear anything different in the mp3 compared to the video, so whatever the problem is, it isn't getting picked up by other programs that capture through loopback devices. How did you install OpenAL Soft? And did you install it for anything in particular?
I followed the read me thing, I have a 64 bit windows, and assumed that I wanted to use the redistributable The Flash Season 6B Intro Title Card.zip
It sounds like I'm playing the audio on a dance room floor , maybe it' virtualizing two channel speakers like Sonic does for 7.1?
Well, like I said, OpenAL Soft only affects apps that use OpenAL. It won't do anything to web browsers and youtube videos, or anything that doesn't use OpenAL. I'm not hearing any "reverbish effect" in the audio files provided (that's not also in the original youtube video link at least), so if you're getting abnormal echoes and such in the sound, it's not being captured by whatever you're recording these with.
What happens if you remove OpenAL Soft? Did you do any other changes to your system around the same time as installing OpenAL Soft?
I removed the one from creative labs, which fixed my issue... I should mention though at this point that my computer is on the fritz. I think I have a corrupted SSD. Files seem to go missing, and I haven't cumulative update since 2019. However I've performed chkdsk(FYI according to this it's not good for you system/or it's not safe for your data, not sure https://www.recoveryforce.com/is-it-safe-to-run-chkdsk/) today to see if that was the culprit for my issue and it returned nothing. I'm not gonna reformat my system cause not even a year has passed since the last reformat
It certainly sounds like an issue with your system. Installing OpenAL Soft should have no effect on non-OpenAL apps, and removing Creative's OpenAL shouldn't either. I can't even begin to guess why that would have any affect on web browsers and other apps.
A complete shot in the dark, but you don't have DSOAL or some other DirectSound wrapper installed globally, do you?
I have installed Smooth Video Player before which installs a bunch of crap
The OpenAL Soft configuraton program has 'Default Reverb effct' set to none
