Cannot delete photos when editing a submitted inspection #33

Closed impittman closed 5 years ago

impittman commented 6 years ago

When going back in to edit a submitted inspection, photos cannot be deleted. This may be an issue if the user inadvertently submitted an inspection and realized it was inaccurate. There should be an option to delete photos in edit mode.

This could be a limitation by design (by Esri) or due to permissions on the target feature service. I will investigate.

@johnshiu for this issue users note that during "inbox" edit mode, they cannot edit or delete photo attachments. Do you think this could be feature service related? Perhaps the target service doesn't allow edits to attachments? If not, then this is probably a Survey123 bug.

johnshiu commented 6 years ago

@talllguy I'm not aware of any feature service restrictions on editing/deleting attachments. In fact, I was able to delete an attachment via AGOL using a Feature Layer webmap, so it definitely is possible.

This does sound like a Survey123 issue with the inbox, but I wonder if it's platform specific.

Thanks John. It could also be specific to edits within repeats. More testing is needed to validate and I think that in terms of UAT we can file this as a known issue. The workaround is to delete in web/desktop later.

Just learned in a demo from Esri today that this is a known issue. They are considering photo edits in a future release. Currently, there is no way to edit photos via inbox.

Reopening this-

With the increase in firms, we are getting way more delete/remove photo comments/requests. In some cases it may be leading to issues with attachments etc. @talllguy Did we ever establish a workflow for these besides telling the firms to change the comment to delete/remove photo. There is a note in the SOP for the users, but I don't recall us coming up with a standard workflow. Could it possibly be implemented in the scripts somewhere?

324 will resolve this.
