Unable to OCR PNG file with pdf configfile

tessearact fails OCR PNG file with "Error during processing." error message, 
and produces a corrupt PDF file.
The PNG file is attached.

$ tesseract -v
tesseract 3.04.00
 leptonica-1.71
  libjpeg 6b : libpng 1.2.51 : libtiff 3.9.4 : zlib 1.2.3
$ tesseract tesse.png tesse-ocr -l eng pdf
Tesseract Open Source OCR Engine v3.04.00 with Leptonica
Error during processing.

With revision 36b55f7710cf, there is no error to OCR PNG file with PDF 
configfile.
