Refactor in progress. However there are bugs as many tests are failing. Bug fixes are necessary before we can merge this.

Hey @jtorre39, We've integrated these changes into a more recent version of our beta branch. Also, please take note to commit the changes into the beta branch rather than the master branch in the future.
