Streambaby disappears from Tivo Showcases Menu after accessed once #51

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run either Streambaby console or Streambaby services on WHS
2. Initially can see it on Tivo menu, can watch movies without a hitch
3. If I leave the movie, and try to come back to the Showcases menu to
start Streambaby again, Streambaby has disappeared from the list

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Streambaby should stay in the Showcases list, and it doesn't after first
access attempt

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.29 Streambaby, latest version Windows Home Server, Latest version Java
(just downloaded)

Please provide any additional information below.
Brand-new Tivo Premiere, trying to access Streambaby from WHS. It doesn't
last on the Showcases menu for more than one try. Tivo has a wireless g
adapter. Have opened up all the relevant ports on the WHS (7290, 5353).
Java has full access through firewall on WHS. Also of note, Streambaby
console running on Windows 7 client on same wired network works without a
hitch. Suspect compatibility problem with WHS - there are a couple other
msg board threads on similar problems with Windows XP sp 3 (same as WHS),
with no resolution.

When it works, Streambaby works great! Please help. Thanks!

FWIW, I see this very reliably. It's pretty frustrating.

Same problem. VERY frustrating. Win7 64 bit, running StreamBaby as a service.
Tivo Series 3. Wired LAN connection.

I noticed that if I close out of StreamBaby by pressing the GUIDE button it
tends to disappear from the Showcase list and require a service restart. It
will also disappear on its own in between uses with seemingly no interaction.
To combat the problem I have a scheduled task reboot the StreamBaby service
nightly but that is not a reliable enough solution.

This is the ONLY problem I have with StreamBaby. Otherwise it's my favorite
thing about the Series3 as compared to my old S2.

The issue has become worse since TiVo updated the Showcase menu with new items.

I just thought of something... I use Vuze (Azureus) all the time and it adds a
share on the Now Playing list. Even though StreamBaby adds itself to a
different location do you suppose this could be part of the problem? Perhaps
the two apps fight for priority?

Just wondering if anyone else that has this issue was using Vuze.

FWIW, make sure that port 5353 udp is opened. Seems like OP has it opened, but
other folks (like me :D) might not.
