Solving the LAT Sunday Calendar crossword puzzle for January 10, 2016 ("Triple Play" by Merl Reagle) requires the ability to enter a "3" in 16 of the squares. Shortyz won't let me do that. Apparently the only way to solve the puzzle is to use the REVEAL option.

Is it possible to use the system keyboard? This is probably more inconvenient than using "reveal" though.

I remember this puzzle and tried using the system keyboard but still wasn't able to enter the number 3. Using "reveal" was the only way to fill the square.

Also unable to enter #s with Shortyz or AOSP keyboard. I haven't had a chance to confirm this in a while (no puzzles requiring #s) but assume it is still the case based on this ticket. Thanks @SKNerissa for that suggestion.

Same problem again this week with the Jonesin' crossword. I tried the physical keyboard but the keypresses for numbers were ignored.
