Devanagari (Indic) not correctly rendered #127

In TenFourFox 9.0 on OS X 10.4.11 on a PowerPC G4 (7450 "G4e") I experience the
problem that Devanagari script is not displayed correctly. E.g. the resorting
of characters is not working.

In the following example कि, I see the bow above the line to be starting
right of the क character, but it should be ending there. The ि character
is actually written after क but should be resorted to be displayed before it.

This is also explained on the following website, see the graphical examle in
the the "Devanagari" row in the table within the "Check for existing support"
chapter:
isting_support>

The same page states in the OS X section: "...it will be displayed by Firefox
after 4.0 which fully supports rearrangement and substitution for
OpenType-based fonts by using HarfBuzz". Already Firefox 3.6.16 (so earlier
than 4.0) on the same machine displays the text correctly without any special
settings.

The rendering works also fine on the same machine using Safari 4.1.3 without
any special settings. Firefox 9.0.1 on Windows XP also renders fine,
unfortunately I don't have the possibility to test a current Firefox on a newer
OS X.

Thank you for looking into that and for all the other great work!

Martin

Please read TechnicalDifferences and issue 5. This is an acknowledged issue
which we mention on the release notes. !HarfBuzz does support rearrangement,
but not with AAT fonts; only Core Text can do this, which we don't support. If
you absolutely require this functionality and cannot use Open Type or WOFF
fonts, you must use another browser.
