KeePassXC-Browser has encountered an error: Timeout or not connected to KeePassXC #1731

Expected Behavior

Keepassxc is open I want to call a login and a passwd, or setup a random one ...

Current Behavior

I receive this kin of thing Password Generator Cannot receive generated password. Is KeePassXC opened? // Yes it is

Cliking on the Keppassxc--Browser 's tool I get :

KeePassXC-Browser has encountered an error: Timeout or not connected to KeePassXC

about:Debugging > KeePassXC-Browser Reading manifest: Error processing version_name: An unexpected property was found in the WebExtension manifest.

clik : Debug > Une requête entrante pour permettre une connexion de débogage à distance a été détectée. Un client distant peut prendre le contrôle complet de votre navigateur !

The port numbers are not always the same

A bit afraying should I be under control ?

Possible Solution

Steps to Reproduce (for bugs)

  1. Keepassxc is opened
  2. using the firefox plusgin normaly a few times
  3. using it once more

Hi, I'm facing the same issue : KeepassXC-Browser is not able to connect to Database.

I'm under Windows 10 Familly with the brower Firefox Quantum 59.0.1 (64 bits) and my KeePassXC is 2.3.1. The plugin is 1.0.1

and then, no way to connect here

And the last thing is : the plugin KeePassHttp-Connector works fine.

So, without answer I had to manage by myself and I finally found a solution. Thanks to varjolintu ;-) So the solution is there #1559

Not exactly the same issue : in my situation the connected database was shown.

@Larry3460 : did you follow the migration process ? https://keepassxc.org/docs/keepassxc-browser-migration/

In my situation it seems working without bug today ... I Will comme back if it goes wrong again

For me, this error was occurring in ubuntu 16.04 because apparmor blocks access to /usr/bin/keepassxc-proxy. (edit: for firefox)

I installed keepassxc using the ubuntu ppa.
