I needed to back-port the WiFiKeyboard to Android 2.2 to use it on my clumsy 
little cell phone, and while at it, made a couple of improvements I think you 
might like:

In case you are interested what I had to do to make it work with Android 2.2, 
there is the android-2.2 branch:
