The description was very scant, let me try to elaborate it a bit; The way I understand this is:

If the "face" (I+, J- etc.) given by AQUANCON for a particular grid cell is not

• on the outside face of the reservoir or
• adjoining an inactive grid cell (cells with pore volume = 0)

Then, we shouldn't connect the aquifer to that particular face of that particular grid cell
