Do you know something or just conclude from the current activity?

If that's the case it would be pretty interesting to know why because PHP needs
a HAML implementation .. Is there a better one out there?

I've put my != &= implementation here https://github.com/MarcWeber/phamlp.
I hope that the main author / maintainer pings back so that we can merge again.
For now I have to move on.

A complete rewrite of the HAML component can be found here:
http://haml-to-php.com/buy.html (I have to fund my living as well somehow ..)
All tests found in the original Ruby distribution pass. Because its based on a
simple parser engine it should be much easier to fix the small remaining bugs.
