Generic links for profile editing without user IDs

I want to point people to generic links so that they can edit their account/profile/newsletter. But I don't want to have to send them specific links that include their user ID. I'd prefer that we never see their user ID in fact. Like I want to say something like:

• https://www.kendra.io/user/newsletter
• https://www.kendra.io/user/profile
• https://www.kendra.io/user/account Can this be done?
• https://www.drupal.org/project/me ?
• http://enkelw.se/?q=node/17 ?
