Took this app for a spin, looks like a proof of concept with some promise - 
these are my suggestions.

 * Need to be able to save samba shares. Don't want to type in username & password every time.
 * Add ability to mount shares at phone power on, sort of like adding them to fstab (If this is at all possible).
 * File meta data on list view.
 * File list UI needs improvement (not an artist, but get one)
 * Check download progress - this is a BIG ONE
 * Ability to upload.
