HTC EVO 3D won't pair with Zeemote #117

BluezIME v1.11
Android 2.3.4
Zeemote JS1

I'm not able to pair Zeemote to my HTC EVO 3D either through BluezIME or using
the Android Bluetooth settings. Using the native Android, a message says "To
pair with Zeemote JS1, enter this PIN code on it: 059237" And then another
message appears: "Cannot establish communication with Zeemote JS1" Each time I
attempt to pair, another random 6 digit PIN code is requested. There's no data
entry field in which to enter the factory set PIN "0000".

After several unsuccessful pairing attempts, I installed the game Speedx 3D
which specifically lists compatibility with HTC EVO 3D and Zeemote. When I
choose the Zeemote option, the Zeemote is automatically paired and connected.
And it works fine. (I haven't tried any other games yet that have built-in
Zeemote support.)

Do you know of a solution to allow BluezIME to connect?

Have you tried this approach:

Pairing the Zeemote to your phone
Steps will vary from phone to phone, but will typically be something like
this...

From the Home screen, select Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Bluetooth
Settings -> Select the “Turn on Bluetooth” checkbox -> Turn on the Zeemote
by holding down the "On" or "D" button on Zeemote (light starts flashing blue &
yellow) -> Scan for Devices -> Wait for Zeemote JS1 to appear in phone ->
select Zeemote JS1 -> Enter Key “0000” -> phone will say “Paired but not
connected” -> exit back to home

Kenneth,

Yes, I've tried that, but there's no way to input the PIN. It's not a text
entry box, but a message requesting that I somehow type the displayed 6 digit
code into the Zeemote. In attempt to open a PIN entry box, I've tried
short-pressing and long-pressing on every message box and menu item in
Bluetooth Settings, to no avail. Here's a link to a discussion:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1172765.html
Poster "catpunt" indicates he has the same issue, but no resolution is reached.
I've attached 3 screen images of the Bluetooth Settings screen:
1) after pressing "Scan for Devices", device "Zeemote JS1" is displayed.
2) after pressing "Zeemote JS1", a message is displayed with 6 digit PIN
3) after a few seconds, another message is displayed indicating a problem
pairing

Each time I press "Zeemote JS1" the same message appears (as in image 2) but
with a different 6 digit PIN.

Is there somehow a way to send the correct pin "0000" from Bluez IME or another
app bypassing the built-in OS PIN entry function like Speedx 3D does? By the
way, when I run Speedx 3D and select the Zeemote controller option, Bluetooth
Settings does not show the Zeemote device. But the Zeemote works fine in that
game.

Kenneth,
I've just found an Android app recently published by Zeemote that successfully
paired the Zeemote with my HTC EVO 3D. It's called "JS1 Quick Start
Application" on the Android Market:
http://market.android.com/details?id=com.zeemote.android.js1.quickstart
The app first tried to auto-pair the JS1, and when that failed it asked me to
choose 1 of 3 manual methods for pairing. The one that worked for me was #3.
The Bluetooth device status is now "Paired but not connected." So now Bluez-IME
connects to the Zeemote, and it works perfectly.
Thanks for your reply and for developing a great app.
-Larry

Ok, very nice, I have a Zeemote, and I have never seen the screens that you get
when trying to pair it.
The JS1 QuickStart app seems to indicate that there are other people than you
who have trouble pairing :)

If anyone else has the same problem, I will redirect them to the QuickStart app.

I'm having massive issues on my EVO 3d pairing zeemote, I wanted to pair more
then one device for multiplayer but only way to pair as of yet is js1 quick,
feel like I'm bashing my head against a wall with htc. Need a way to bypass the
dual connect but don't think it can be done using js1 quick

Can't you just pair one at a time?
I mean turn off all the controllers, then turn 1 on, pair it, turn it off, and
repeat with the other controllers?

Hi sorry for mixing issues, have tried this and tried pairing via in built
Bluetooth settings, the js1 app only connects two remotes as a test and as soon
as you go away from the js1 app the 2nd device dissconnects, but even while 2nd
connection is active bluz doesn't try a connection with the 2nd device even
when the correct drivers and device are set for the 2nd device , do you think
if I had another brand of remote I.e. a phone joy + zeemote it would solve the
pairing issue? Thanks again for the great support keep up the hard work

Have finally worked round the issue, phone needed a restart as did the
zeemotes, tried pairing as you said then swithed off all Bluetooth software etc
ran js1 ran n64oid then connected in app one at a time using the key config in
app. I had to configure both devices in the app itself and then it worked :-)
happy days just for a mhl cable now thanks do u have a donate address
