Design the distributed search communication

Brainstorm the high-level overview of the communication.

What are the messages transmitted between parties?

To answer the question consider the following situations:

• sending query to connected devices
• receiving query and finding a relevant document
• receiving query and not finding any relevant document (forward?)
• receiving documents

Search query contains (at least):

• IP address of the origin
• id of the query (this can be paired with IP address)
• the search query
• jump count

Document response contains:

• list of:
  • name of the doc
  • magnet link to the doc
  • score of the match
  • other metadata

Searching process

• send a query to your neighbours
• neighbours compare the query against their documents, and send back top X documents, or docs with some high score
• forward the query to neighbours with lowered jump count
• ignore queries which you already evaluated, same source, same query, same id
