Does the Iron Material conflict with the Vanilla Minecart? #195

Open keplersj opened 10 years ago

viliml commented 10 years ago

Oh. Forgot about that little detail :P Well, one solution would be to have every single "empty" boat have a "seat", that would be crafted like, one slab gives 2 of them or something. Then it wouldn't conflict. Another solution would be to have a separate crafting table mechanic thingy for metals and gems, so it doesn't conflict.

keplersj commented 10 years ago

I'm trying not to 'completely' replace Vanilla mechanics, just improve on them. So, I'd rather not replace crafting... What if we introduced a seat item required for all empty crafting recipes?

viliml commented 10 years ago

That's what I said! Would it be just like a mini bench that would be invisible because of minecraft's logic-full physics, or will we make it actually do some rendering fanciness?

keplersj commented 10 years ago

Hmm... I''m honestly not sure.

keplersj commented 10 years ago

This issue is nonexistent with the move to ForgeMicroBlocks based Materials.

viliml commented 10 years ago

The move to ForgeMicroBlocks based materials is nonexistant, at least for now.

dorijanko commented 10 years ago

We could make something like iron slabs or plates for making iron boats.

viliml commented 10 years ago

No, everything else is done the same way...

keplersj commented 10 years ago

We should just make the iron material crafted using Iron Plates. Easy way to explain why the iron material is more durable.

viliml commented 10 years ago

So, add iron plates to the game? Wouldn't that break IC2 and railcraft balance? Also I think calcavia adds all kinds of metal plates in some mod...

Iron Pressure Plates... On May 26, 2014 1:38 AM, "viliml" notifications@github.com wrote:

Ummmm... That doesn't really make that much sense... Why would a thin pressure-sensitive sheet of iron be used to make boats?

keplersj commented 10 years ago

It's not just one... It's five sheets of iron!

Honestly just spit balling at this point.

viliml commented 10 years ago

Maybe a new mechanic of building boats after the wooden tier? I mean, have you EVER seen a metal dinghy? Seriously? Wood, yes, rubber, of course(maybe pump it up using compressed air cells?), metal and crystal, I don't think so. Crystal seems very weird anyway, but, hey, it's minecraft, screw logic! However, I don't think a dinghy would work. It needs something with more air inside in order to float.
