Proposal for Adding Video Content Sub-Section to Keptn Blog #3298

I was exploring the Keptn website recently and noticed an opportunity to enhance our blog section. Currently, the blog showcases valuable content, including posts like the 2023 Keptn Year in Reviewby Stacey.

However, I believe we can further enrich the blog section by introducing a new sub-section dedicated to video content related to Keptn. This sub-section would feature videos from various sources, such as Kubecon Talks by Anna, GitOps Talks, and other presentations that showcase Keptn demos and highlight its latest features.

Although the January blog post effectively compiles talks and presentations, I observed that newer content might not receive immediate visibility, especially if visitors need to scroll down to find it. Therefore, introducing a dedicated sub-section for video content would offer a more organized and accessible way for users, including new contributors and folks, to explore Keptn through video resources.

My 2 cents since I can't join the community meeting today: The cool thing about our blog is that it's handled by a plugin and we don't need to do any maintenance except for writing blogs. AFAIK the plugin doesn't support video content at all. So introducing this would not only be some major effort in setting it up, but then also some additional effort in maintaining it down the line.

Why can't we just use blog posts to publish videos and write a few lines of description for the video that we want to showcase? And then the video could be uploaded to the keptn youtube channel. I think that would still be a nice solution and much less effort and maintenance.

@YashPimple we discussed this briefly at today's community meeting, but we probably need more input from your side:

  1. How would this video section with categories look like?
  2. What would be the maintenance effort?
  3. What are the advantages compared to let's say a blog post linking the YouTube video?

Maybe we can have a chat at the next community meeting 😄

as discussed in the community meeting on april 17, @YashPimple will do some research on how we can add some automation to that page so that maintenance effort will be lower
