Hi Tyler,

Here in France, our providers gives us "tv boxes" that service as modem and tv receiver. Usually those devices run on Android (or Android Tv) So it could be a good idea to have screenBloom running on it, to use with all tv programs.

Android doesn't seems to have a working python /pillow /imagegrab stack, but it's definitely possible to achieve that in java. Some source that could be usefull here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20136121/android-how-to-take-screenshot-programatically

I will try to make a port ( I will test on a Nvidia Shield TV). But if someone has idea or skills on how to do that, any help is welcome :)

This is a great idea, but I can tell ya that I won't really have any time to devote to it nor do I have any Android devices to really test with it, so I'll be pretty hands off on this one.

If you (or anyone else) ends up working on it just let me know if you need anything from me!

Okay I will keep you posted with my avancement on that. Seems to have everything needed here : https://github.com/PhilipsHue/PhilipsHueSDK-Java-MultiPlatform-Android So it shouldn't take to long to have a first try :)

Any updates on the Android port? I'd like to run this on my Fire TV to provide atmospheric lighting during slideshows, gaming, and videos. The XBMC/Kodi plugin only works for video. IMO the effect is much better for slideshows that change less frequently than the rapid changes in videos.

I wouldn't hold your breath, unfortunately. I simply don't have the time or resources to develop an Android port and can't speak for what Twano's up to.

Hello,

This need to recode all the app (because of the lack in android's python stack). It's still on my mind to do that one day, but it's actually at the 0 point.

For the moment I can't figure out, how to have a background service running on Android with the abbility to capture screenshots. But maybe someone has some hints on that...

Any update on this?

Wow, has anyone made any developments in this area?? If someone has got an android version of Screenbloom working, I'd pay for it, plenty of others with Philips Hue devices would too, its the elephant in the room when it comes to Philips Hue!
