Crash while listing images present on 350D (Rebel XT) #123

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

Phone: Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Android 4.3
Latest DSLR Dashboard version on the Play Store (09/09/2013)

Camera: Canon EOS Rebel XT / 350D

1. The EOS camera gets recognized by the software
2. When trying to list the photos present on the camera (with a view to
downloading them to the phone), Dashboard stalls then crashes.

Expected output: thumbnails for the pictures on the camera are displayed.

I've had the crash report on my phone sent, please tell me if I can do anything
else to help.

Sorry for late answer, it's my fail not seeing there are more issues open.

I will check this. (could be it is a memory problem if there are to many images
on camera sd card)

My turn to apologize, for I just saw your reply.

The latest version of DSLR Dashboard still crashes, but slightly later; it
still fails to display the thumbnails.

After Searching for the camera then Connecting to it, I click on the Gallery
icon.
I'm not sure if thumbnails should be displayed immediately at this point (since
I haven't seen the app's non-buggy behaviour), but in any case nothing appears.

I click on the Camera icon (at first the Phone icon is selected), then on the
Double Arrows icon (one going up, one down), which I assumed is the way to get
the thumbnails?
Then a "Downloading images info from camera" dialog with a spinner appears
briefly, then the app crashes.

I've sent the error report, but looking at it briefly, the exception was a
NullPointerException, caused by a SimpleDataFormat.parse() in
PtPObjectInfo.parse().

Perhaps the 350D has a quirky date format??

PS: I'm on Kitkat now, though I doubt it matters: I'm pretty sure I had the
same crash on JB.

Will check, in the meantime please try the cross platform qDslrDashboard (
http://dslrdashboard.info )

That seems to work, thanks!! The UI elements are too small, but still usable.

Can you maybe make a screen shoot, just to see how small. The Note 3 has
1920x1080 resolution?

Sure:

Yes, I believe that's the resolution.
