Unable to update TPLink MR3040v2 with latest DD Server firmware #213

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Flash latest firmware image
ddserver_openwrt-tl-mr3040-v2-squashfs-sysupgrade_0.12.bin
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Updated firmware expected.
Router returns "The CGI process did not produce any response"
No change to previous firmware version or settings.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Previous F/W version was
openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-mr3040-v2-squashfs-factory.bin, which installed
correctly over original TP-Link factory firmware and functioned successfully
until the latest DSLRDashboard update.

Attempting to update to the latest downloaded version
ddserver_openwrt-tl-mr3040-v2-squashfs-sysupgrade_0.12.bin downloaded from the
DSLRDashboard site, under Win 8.1.

Please provide any additional information below.
The MR3040 appears to be receiving the uploaded image data for several minutes
before halting with the above 'CGI process did not produce any response' error.
There is no obvious change to the previous firmware and settings regardless of
whether 'keep settings' is checked or unchecked. The update does not progress
beyond this point either if left for an extended period of time or if the
MR3040 is subsequently rebooted.

Please advise any other or alternative steps needed to update the firmware
successfully. Many thanks.

UPDATE: Solved. The firmware upgrade flashed first time using an old Win XP
machine with IE8 to do the upload, and now appears to be functioning correctly.

Further details of the symptoms are included in a thread at
http://forum.lrtimelapse.com if anyone else has similar problems.

I hope it's OK to post the additional link here - mods please remove if
inappropriate.
