customize-twitter-1.1 loses custom css #4

Congrats on your work for customizing the new twitter widget - it's just what I've been searching for for days. I downloaded it and the first try seemed to work perfectly, but as soon as I include the code in another html tag (div, section, etc.) with styling, which I need to do for layout, the custom css ceases to apply. Is there something else I need to do to fix this?

Which code? Can you give an example?

The <a> tag included on my site - kev.inburke.com - is nested inside of two divs, yet works fine.
