Wyze door and motion sensors stuck on "closed" and "detected" state #195

I setup everything a little over a month ago and everything was working perfectly. Recently the wyze sense devices got stuck in their "closed" and "detected" state. I have restarted home assistant, downgraded/ upgraded to different versions with no luck. My logs are showing no errors so I am not sure where to go from here. I know the devices are working because the lights will flash when there is motion detected/ door or window is opened.

Same thing has happened to me yesterday. I observed that the Wyze sense was showing an orange light and re0installing everything did not change it to blue. I had a spare Wyze sense so I installed that and it blinks yellow/blue but still not working.

So, I haven't done anything, and they all randomly started working again.

ALL my Wyze Sense sensors were also stuck, but started working again after I SHUTDOWN the Home Assistant Host OS (Supervisor/System/Shutdown). Note that it takes several minutes for the shutdown process to complete. So be patient and wait for all the LED / network activity lights go DARK. I also suggest you kill power to the unit as well for good measure.

Also check out this Custom Component: https://github.com/JoshuaMulliken/ha-wyzeapi

I myself use it for my Wyze bulbs ONLY and it works great (minus some features e.g. brightness transition - which I handle via a delay in a repeat: loop). If you make the switch be sure to share you experience.

I have a dozen or so sensors in my house. Over the past month or so I have lost 2 of them. One is brand new because the battery died and I wasn't able to see it anymore, the light didn't light up on it either. The replacement for that one worked for a couple days and now no longer works. The other one is outside and used to work fine but then that one stopped updating as well.

I seem to have this problem every month or so at random. All of a sudden none of my contact sensors or motion sensors report back to HA. I see the lights flash on both, so it's not the hardware, but the connection back to the hub.

The only thing that fixes it is a full reboot of the HA server (NUC). It usually has to reboot 2-3 times too before the hub stops blinking and goes back to solid... then all is well until next time.

Nothing in the logs... no dead batteries... can't explain it!

These things got me pretty far but I'm starting to price out replacing it all.

I've got about 18 of these and they've been failing with increased regularity. Wyze replaced four of them recently but by the time I got around to swapping them out an additional four have died. Time to pull them all out. I'm hoping Wyze will have some sort of trade in program for the next version because this initial release is a pretty flawed product

if the sensor light no longer flashes it's dead (had 1 go this way). if it still flashes twice on battery insertion or 5 times on button press there is still hope. search for 'wyzeback' on github for jtag instructions to reflash the failed sensor firmware.

Because Wyze contact sensors are so picky it's hard to tell if the problem comes from them (dead battery, something else ?) or HA. 3 contact sensors and 1 motion sensor suddenly stopped reporting their correct status a couple days ago. They're "stuck" just like mentioned above. Those v1 contact sensors have been giving me nothing but headaches. I will look into the Aqara line-up next time.
