This occurs in RStudio and simple R. The only way out is to Force Quite R. The rgl version I'm attempting to load: 0.99.16. My sessionInfo():

rgl loads and runs hisafe_root3D() just fine on Marie's Mac! What the heck!? (it also runs just fine on all PCs in the lab)

So, Marie has successfully run the same rgl version that I am trying to run, but she's using R 3.4.2. Perhaps I need to go back to R 3.4.2!

I tried with version 4.0.1 and it still works.... do you still have the issue?

I just tried loading the library on R 4.0.0 with rgl 0.100.54 and it STILL stalled R on my macbook.
