tcpipuk commented 1 year ago

Keybase does not currently allow verifying a British (+44) phone number, as "ERROR CODE 218 - failed to send sms: Bad HTTP code 400: (Permission to send an SMS has not been enabled for the region indicated by the 'To' number: +447xxxxxxxxxx., https://www.twilio.com/docs/errors/21408, ) in method keybase.1.phoneNumbers.resendVerificationForPhoneNumber"

Yeah, same. This is still ongoing. Afaik, on twilio, there's a huge checklist of enabled geographic regions for SMS. They just need to enable it :/

This is still an issue 21st September 2024, this issue has been going on for at least 14 months now. I notice with horror that there is not a single response from anybody in the keybase development team.

This is a major security gap for none US (+1) based users. I would expect it to have a higher priority than "can't be arsed."

Perhaps a blog post on a major Security site may focus the product managers minds somewhat.
