Add simple drip campaign for non-converting or canceled accounts #637

We have a large set of warm leads in the form of past accounts. We can add an opt-out flag to all drip emails and also recommend they close their account if they are no longer interested.

For example, send out emails at the 1 month mark, 2 month mark, and 3 month mark after somebody signs up but is still on the free tier. Then another set of emails for those who signed up for a trial but didn't convert. Also, those that canceled 6 months to 1 year ago — maybe ask what they're up to these days and see if Keygen can help. Maybe stretch our the drip campaign to 24 months, with an exponential backoff irt frequency?

We're already sending a few drip emails to new accounts (which are working well), but we should focus these on benefits of Keygen, new developments, how-to's (license files), cost of building in-house, and timing.

Start simple?

Over 80% of startups use email to acquire, sell, or retain their customers.

There are 4 easy, but critical, emails you should be sending to maximize performance for your SaaS product.

  1. Welcome Email: - This is an email that includes a personal note from your company showing the pain point your brand is solving, and a clear CTA for the user. Sometimes these emails even come directly from the founder/CEO to give it a personal touch.

  2. Educational Email - This is an email that will provide a demo video, gif, etc. that guides the customer through the most important features with a clear CTA. Assume that most customers need an ELI5 to start using the product.

  3. Incentive Email - This is an email that can include a unique one time discount, or incentive to join now. Make sure there is an end date in big bold letters to create urgency on the promo and once against, a clear CTA to capitalize on it.

  4. Social Proof Email - The most important email is showcasing how other companies have used your service to achieve positive results. People will FOMO especially if you're showcasing a competitor!

Execute on these 4 steps and your conversion rate should jump significantly!

Protip: Make sure you're using "customization" macros in your email body and subject line to give the reader a personalized email marketing sequence. You can use {{first_name}} and {{company_name}} in the body so the user feels like the email is directed towards them. In addition, use a service that allows for customized images. These are effective as a secondary follow up.
