As of 2019-12-02 Slack supports reverting back to its previous editor! Instead of using this repo, please enable this feature via Slack's preferences:

Unfortunately, that's misleading. Disabling the WYSIWYG editor is not supported in the web or mobile versions. This is still useful.

For some odd reason it shows in some of my slack accounts but not all AND the slack twitter account said they're not going to do the web version so... my apologies for the confusion.
